The CME Weather product group, a part of the CME Alternative Investment department, is adding CME Snowfall futures and options to its suite of products, which is currently based on indexes of temperatures and frost. CME Snowfall futures are geared to a CME Snowfall Index and will be offered initially on two U.S. cities - Boston and New York. These contracts trade on a monthly basis from October through April. CME Snowfall futures trade electronically only, on the CME Globex trading platform, while options trade on the CME trading floors, as do the other CME Weather products.
