About CME European Monthly Weather Heating Degree Day Futures

Due to tremendous growth for the CME® Weather products in 2005, the CME has added four new cities (Essen, Germany; Rome, Italy; Madrid, Spain; and Barcelona, Spain) to the current monthly and seasonal products. This brings the number of European tradable HDD and Cumulative Average Temperature (CAT) monthly and seasonal contracts to nine. The new cities will have the same contract specifications and trading hours and will enable customers’ abilities to hedge their weather risk in new sections of Europe.
